Shooting at the bench is one thing. Taking your rig out into the field and hitting the kill zone is another thing altogether. Fortunately, we have an easy way to get in some small game hunting practice and test our gear and skill set in a controlled environment. By using knockdown targets, each with about a 1” kill zone, we can test our accuracy in simulated hunting situations. We’ll be shooting off shooting sticks versus a bench and testing our optimal zero at 15 to 40 yards. The goal here is to hit the kill zone and drop the targets. A clean hit means a likely clean kill. A miss means that you’ve only wounded your game and did not make an ethical shot. Let’s see how we do!
